Research on Christian Education



The decision to commit financially to send your children to a Christian school is not an easy one. For over 35 years Crossroads has consistently prepared children to succeed academically, spiritually and relationally. Some advantages enjoyed by Crossroads students include:

Independent research supports what we already know: that Christian school prepares children better for life and higher education than other private schools, charter schools, or public schools.

“He [researcher William Jeynes] found that religious, mostly Christian, school students were a full year ahead of students who attend public and charter schools…Jeynes also found a greater reduction in the class and race based achievement gaps…Additionally, Jeynes found that the differences on behavioral measures were even greater than the academic differences. Students at religious schools were less likely, for instance, to get suspended, get into fights, do drugs, and get involved in bullying. “Compared to their public school, Catholic school, and non-religious private school peers, Protestant Christian school graduates are uniquely compliant, generous, outwardly-focused individuals who stabilize their communities by their uncommon commitment to their families, their churches, and larger society. ……these graduates harbor distinctive hope and optimism about their lives and their futures, and have the tools to engage in healthy relationships and address the problems in their lives” (Cardus Educational Survey, 2011).

And, most importantly: “Whatever beliefs a person embraces when he or she is young are not likely to change as the individual ages. …if people do not embrace Jesus Christ as their Savior before they reach their teenage years, the chance of their doing so at all is slim” (George Barna, 2003).
