Year End Reflection

I am so grateful to you who faithfully support this ministry - so much has already taken place at Crossroads during the first three months of school! Some of the major highlights are: a Back-to-School Picnic; educational field trips to Gettysburg, pumpkin farms, and the symphony; two days of team building fun at YMCA Camp Bernie for students in grades 6 – 8; an amazing Thanksgiving Luncheon followed by a special Thanksgiving Chapel; and the NED Show Assembly, which used humor and really cool yo-yo tricks to promote its message to “Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best."

Community service is one of Crossroads’ core values, and we are highly intentional about providing our students with opportunities to bless others both locally and globally. Crossroads has a strong partnership with America’s Grow A Row, a wonderful local not-for-profit organization that blesses those in need with farm fresh produce. Crossroads students had the privilege of gleaning 12,800 servings of apples and 3,200 lbs. of sweet potatoes this fall. Additionally, Crossroads collected 350 lbs. of food and personal items for the Open Cupboard Food Pantry in Clinton during the month of November as well as 246 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes (its most ever), which will be delivered by Samaritans Purse to children in foreign countries affected by war, natural disasters, and other hardships.

Another of Crossroads’ core values is intellectual rigor. Students are expected to stretch themselves intellectually and honor God with their academic effort. In order to better equip its students to live out this value and to be well prepared for their future academic pursuits, Crossroads now provides each seventh and eighth grader with a Chromebook for use during the school day. Teacher-led integration of technology can enable students to have closer interaction with their teachers, collaboration with each other, and individualized learning at their own pace.

Past donations have enabled the school to make advances not only in technology but also in teacher instruction. The increase in the amount of time that classroom aides are assisting teachers has positively impacted students requiring additional help or individualized attention. Thank you!

Crossroads is delighted to help those who desire a Christian education for their children but would not be able to do so without tuition assistance (approximately 40% of our families). As a result, the tuition income that Crossroads receives does not fully cover its expenses, nor does it enable Crossroads to aggressively pursue other possibilities for program advancement. With that in mind, I humbly ask that you consider making a generous financial contribution to Crossroads Christian Academy as 2017 comes to a close. Each giving partner has the opportunity to directly impact the lives of children who are being taught to think with a Christian worldview and love God and others wholeheartedly. Donations can be mailed to the school or made by clicking on the tab below.  Thank you for your consideration.

The theme for this school year is “Jesus --- The Way, The Truth, The Life,” taken from John 14:6. Indeed He is! May you ponder with wonder and awe how truly amazing it is that the God of all creation humbled Himself by coming to earth as a baby in order to provide us The Way to redemption.

With gratitude,

David R. Homa, Jr.
